NTL VOLLEYBALL: NP-LIBERTY BOUNCES BACK TO SWEEP ATHENS (22 PHOTOS) (2024-09-19)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — North Penn-Liberty rebounded from a pair of league losses — its first after a 99-match NTL regular-season win streak — to sweep Athens here Thursday night in NTL Large School Division volleyball action.
The Mountaineers, who lost to Wellsboro and NEB, won by scores of 25-17, 25-12, and 25-23.
“We were hesitant on hitting, and playing not to lose until the third game when we started playing more aggressive,” said Athens coach Heather Darrow.
Senior Kassie Babcock led Athens with seven kills and 14 digs, while senior Keaton Wiles had two service aces, two kills, and nine digs, and senior Ella Coyle recorded 26 digs.
Senior Sydney Field registered 10 setter assists, while senior Emma Renninger added three assists, and freshman Ellie Mosher chipped in with two kills.
Athens, now 1-5, returns to action Saturday at the Berwick Tournament.
