NTL VOLLEYBALL: ATHENS RALLIES IN FINALS TO WIN TUNKHANNOCK TOURNAMENT (2024-09-21)

TUNKHANNOCK — Athens battled its way out of pool play, squeaked through the semifinals, then rallied to top Western Wayne to win the team title at the annual Tunkhannock Volleyball Tournament here Saturday afternoon.

Athens went 4-2 in pool play with wins over Elk Lake (25-23), Towanda (25-21), Dallas (25-20), and Blue Ridge (28-26). The two setbacks came against Williamson (25-14) and Hazleton (25-15).

In the semifinals, the Wildcats edged Abington, 25-23, to advance to a championship match-up against Western Wayne.

Athens dropped the first set, 25-20, but rallied to win the next two sets by scores of 25-22, and 15-9.

Athens returns to action Tuesday at Troy.
