WAVERLY’S SHAW NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRST REGIONAL BOYS “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
Shaw completed 22 of 29 passes for 270 yards, and four TDs in Waverly’s 34-21 win over Horseheads.
Shaw, who also ran for 11 yards on one carry, tossed TD passes of 63, 24, 30, and 4 — the final two to UConn commit Xavier Watson, who had nine catches for 90 yards.
Shaw also led the Wolverine defense with 13 tackles.
Honorable Mentions: Horseheads’ Elijah Friend (soccer), Owego’s Matt Higgins (soccer), Wellsboro’s Ryder Bowen (football), Troy’s Brandon Gilliland, and Northeast Bradford’s Carsen Perkins.
TROY / CANTON’S McROBERTS NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRST REGIONAL GIRLS “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”McRoberts scored five goals and dished out two assists as Troy remained unbeaten in NTL play. She also booted a field goal for Canton football.
McRoberts had one goal and one assist in Troy’s 8-0 win over NEB on Tuesday. On Friday, McRoberts had four goals and one assist in a 9-0 win over NP-Mansfield.
Friday night, McRoberts booted a 24-yard field goal, and one extra point in Canton’s 19-16 loss to Montgomery.
