Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — It’s not a very big schedule for a Friday, but all five events are in the Valley, including home football games for Athens and Sayre against NTL divisional foes.

In the most interesting match-up of the night, the Tioga girls soccer team hosts Newark Valley.

FOOTBALL
Wellsboro (1-4) at Athens (2-3), 7 p.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off a 16-14 home loss to North Penn-Mansfield, while the Hornets got in the win column with a 40-8 victory against Cowanesque Valley.

Aside from its 55-0 loss to Troy, Athens is scoring 30 points per game, and is allowing 22.5 per game.

Wellsboro had only scored 23 points prior to its 40-point outburst against CV. In its four losses, the Hornets allowed 36.3 points per game.

Northwest Area (1-4) at Sayre (0-5), 7 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 61-20 home loss to Muncy, while the Rangers edged New Hope-Solebury, 17-14.

Northwest is averaging 7 points per game, but Sayre is allowing 57 points per game.

The Redskins are scoring 15 points per game, while the Rangers are allowing 41 points per game, but are allowing 47.3 points in its four losses.

The only common opponent for the two teams is Munch, which beat Northwest, 61-0.

GIRLS SOCCER
Newark Valley (5-2) at Tioga (7-1), 7 p.m.

BOYS SOCCER
Seton Catholic at Waverly, 7 p.m.

FIELD HOCKEY
Vestal at Tioga, 4:30 p.m.
