IAC GIRLS SOCCER: BRADLEY'S BOOT LIFTS TIOGA TO 2-1 WIN OVER NEWARK VALLEY (24 PHOTOS) (2024-09-27)

Valley Sports Report
TIOGA CENTER — Senior Erica Bradley scored from long distance early in the second half to give Tioga a one-goal advantage, and the Tigers’ defense made it stand up in a 2-1 win over Newark Valley in IAC girls soccer here Friday night at Haggerty Field.

“It was a job well done by our defense,” said first-year Tioga coach Emily Potter. “Our defense tonight was fantastic.

“Our midfielders worked hard and covered a ton,” she noted. “We worked as a unit.

“Now to recover and turn around in less than 12 hours and do it all again,” added Potter in reference to Tioga’s game at Groton Saturday at 10 a.m.

Junior Sophia Haney scored midway through the first half to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead, but it was a short-lived advantage as Adrianna Finta just 81 seconds later to make it 1-1.

About 8 1/2 minutes into the second half, Bradley drove a direct kick from about 30 yards out into the back of the net over the outstretched arms of the NV keeper to make it 2-1.

Newark Valley had a 14-11 edge in shots-on-goal. Tioga had a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.

Senior Taliah Speer recorded nine saves in net for the Tigers.

Tioga, now 8-1, travels to Groton Saturday morning.
