SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: REIGNING STATE CHAMP VESTAL BLANKS TIOGA, 8-0 (14 PHOTOS) (2024-09-27)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Tioga kept the game close for a half, but reigning Class B state champion Vestal pulled away in the second half for an 8-0 win here Friday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action at Haggerty Field.
The Golden Bears scored two goals in the first quarter, and led 3-0 at the half, before scoring two goals in the third quarter, and finishing off the game with three goals in the fourth.
Isabel Goncalves scored a pair of goals for Vestal, and Audrey Tulsey, Ava Lucent, Helene Ryan, Elsa Hartman, Aubrey Rogers and Suzie Moyer each netted one goal.
Allie Policare had two assists in the win.
Vestal had a 14-1 advantage in shots-on-goal, and an 18-0 edge in penalty corners.
Bella Pursell had six saves in the cage for the Tigers.
Tioga returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Newark Valley.
