NTL BOYS SOCCER: MICKLEY'S GOAL LIFTS ATHENS TO 1-0 WIN OVER TOWANDA (12 PHOTOS) (2024-10-02) Valley Sports Report TOWANDA — Senior Lucius Mickley scored the game’s lone goal late in the first half to lift Athens to a 1-0 win over Towanda in NTL Large School Division boys soccer action here on a rainy Wednesday afternoon at the Endless Mountains Sports Complex.
Defense ruled the day, with both teams managing just three shots-on-goal apiece in the game. Athens had a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
Mickley’s goal cam with 5:02 remaining in the first half when the Athens senior was able to get his foot on the ball, while tangled up with the Towanda keeper and a defender in the goal mouth.
Athens improves to 6-6-1 overall, while Towanda falls to 6-7.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday afternoon at Williamsport.
