THE VALLEY — Waverly junior Mira Kittle continues to break records, while Athens sophomore Eli Hicks punched his ticket to States, and his classmate Graham Wanck continued his strong season. They are the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction “Athletes of the Week,” for the week ending Oct. 5.

WAVERLY’S KITTLE NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS “ATHLETES OF THE WEEK”
Kittle broke a pair of pool records in individual events, and also swam on a pair of relays that set new pool records in a win at Susquehanna Valley.

Kittle set new pool records in the 50-yard freestyle (24.92 seconds), and in the 100-yard backstroke (59.69 seconds which meets state cut). Both records had stood since 2011.

Kittle also swam on the record-breaking 200-yard medley, and 400-yard freestyle relays.

ATHENS’ HICKS, WANCK NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS “ATHLETES OF THE WEEK”
Hick shot a two-day total of 158 to finish second at the District 4, Class AAA Golf Championships, and advance to the PIAA Championships.

Hicks led the field after Round 1 with a 73. He shot an 85 on Day 2.

A week removed from a fifth-place finish at the prestigious McQuaid Cross Country Invitational, Wanck turned in an equally impressive sixth-place finish at the Paul Short Invite at Lehigh University.
