STAC BOYS GOLF: WAVERLY EDGES SUS. VALLEY FOR FIRST WIN OF SEASON (2024-10-07)

Valley Sports Report
CONKLIN— Freshman Griff Walter earned low-medal honors, and freshman Daniel Brady fired a carer-best round to lead Waverly to its first win of the season here Monday night in STAC boys golf action.

The Wolverines had four golfer shoot 48 or better to post a 239-241 win.

"We’re super-proud of all of these kids,” said first-year Waverly coach Marc Felt. “They’ve come together with a lot of new faces this year, including myself and coach (Nick) Cevette, and really made the most out of it.

“This group knew this year could be a challenge, but they were up for it and have been lowering their scores throughout the entire season,” noted Felt.

“We came within 5 strokes a couple different times, and it feels great to finally get one,” added Felt. “The kids have earned it.”

Walter shot a 43 on the 3,128-yard, par-36 front nine at the Conklin Players Club, while Brady shot a 48.

Senior Carson McIsaac carded a 47 for the Wolverines, and senior Devyn Kinney shot a season-best 46.

Junior Mac Talada and sophomore Daniel Fischer each shot rounds of 55.

Fischer had a birdie on the par-5 6th hole, and McIsaac carded a birdie on the par-5 9th hole.

SV’s Adam Spisak shared low-medal honors with a 43 to lead the Sabers, and Jacob Bailey shot a 45.

“I don’t like to ever single out players, but I’m going to today,” said Felt.

“Freshman Daniel Brady bought his first set of golf clubs on our first day of practice,” noted Felt. “He has gone from shooting high 60s to now shooting three rounds in a row right around 50, including a great round of 48 tonight at Conklin.

“We’re proud of him especially, and overall really pleased with everyone’s performance tonight,” added Felt.

Waverly returns to action at Horseheads Tuesday.
