NTL BOYS SOCCER: ATHENS RIDES BIG FIRST HALF TO 3-0 WIN OVER GALETON (9 PHOTOS) (2024-10-08)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Athens scored three first-half goals, including two by junior Chase Ingram, en route to a 3-0 win over Galeton here Tuesday afternoon in NTL boys soccer action at Alumni Stadium.
“It was a frustrating second half, but we looked better tonight than Saturday in the attacking end and transitioning,” said longtime Athens coach Jake Lezak.
“Our guys made better decisions to shoot and get forward,” he added.
Ingram, off a feed from senior Lucius Mickley, scored about 4 1/2 minutes into the game to give the Wildcats a quick 1-0 lead.
Ingram, off an assist from senior Troy Rosenbloom, scored again about 5 1/2 minutes later to make it 2-0.
Senior Matt Driesbaugh, off an another assist from Rosenbloom, scored the Wildcats’ final goal of the game with 8:44 remaining in the first half.
Athens had a 16-2 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
Sophomore Zach Fisher recorded two saves in the clean sheet for the Wildcats.
Athens, now 7-6-2, returns to action Thursday at North Penn-Liberty.
