IAC GIRLS SOCCER: NEWFIELD KNOCKS OFF TIOGA, 2-1 (2024-10-11)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA — Newfield scored a pair of first-half goals, and made them stand in a 2-1 win over Tioga here Thursday afternoon in IAC Small School girls soccer action.
Tioga, playing without its leading scorer for the fourth game in a row, wraps up the regular season at 9-4-1.
Sophia Reed scored six minutes into the game to give the Trojans 1-0 lead.
Midway through the first half, Sierra Lynch, off an assist from Reed, made it 2-0.
Freshman Serenity Relyea, off an assist from 8th-grader Grace Howey, scored with 7:44 remaining in the game to close the gap to 2-1.
Newfield had a 20-9 advantage in shots-on-goal, and Tioga had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
Senior Taliah Speer recorded 12 saves in net for the Tigers.
