(UPDATED) PIAA BOYS GOLF: ATHENS FALLS TO ABINGTON HEIGHTS AT SUB-REGIONALS (2024-10-10)

EXETER, Pa. — Athens came up one win shy of the PIAA Boys Golf Championships, dropping a 331-353 decision to District 2 champ Abington Heights here Thursday in the PIAA Sub-Regionals at Fox Hill Golf Course.

“We did not play well at all,” said Athens coach Lenny Pientka.

“It was a rough day,but we had an outstanding season and postseason,” noted Pientka.

“Im proud of every single one of them,” added Pientka. “It was a fun year.”

Senior Dylan Saxon paced the Wildcats with an 80, while states-bound sophomore Eli Hicks shot a 90, and freshman Ty Owen carded a 91.

Senior Brady Darrow added a 96, and freshman Brooke Lyon tacked on a non-scoring round of 102.

Hicks will compete in the PIAA Championships Oct. 21-22.
