IAC VOLLEYBALL: TIOGA BESTS HORSEHEADS IN FOUR SETS (24 PHOTOS) (2024-10-11)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Tioga shook off a loss in the third set to finish off Horseheads in a hard-fought fourth set of a 3-1 win here Friday night in non-league volleyball action.
The Tigers, now 8-2, won the first set, 26-24, and followed it up with a 25-14 win in the second set.
The Blue Raiders stayed alive in the third set with a 25-21 win, but Tioga closed out the match with a 25-23 victory in the fourth set.
Lydiah Decker led Tioga with five points, six kills, and six digs, while Lilly Mezzatesta had four points, five kills, and eight digs, Audi Zorn registered five kills and five blocks, RaeAnne Feeko had four kills, five setter assists, and five digs, and Mary Diver had five points, including two aces.
Kali Bailey had three points, a team-high eight kills, two assists, and seven digs for the Tigers, while Vanessa Tunnicliff had five kills and four assists, Alyson Chamberlain added three points and two assists, Jade Keaty recorded four digs, and Mia Hall chipped in with two points.
Tioga returns to action Wednesday at Dryden.
JV: Horseheads swept the junior varsity match by scores of 25-23 and 25-15. Tioga won an exhibition set, 25-14.
Peyton Black led Tioga with 10 points, including three aces, seven kills, two blocks, and three digs, while Sadi Marshall had nine points (two aces), four assists, and 10 digs, Lindsey Jeffrey had three points, two kills, five assists, and three digs, and Vida Rossi had three kills, a team-high four blocks, four assists, and seven digs.
Kate Kithcart had two points, two kills, one block, seven assists, and two digs for the Tigers, while Sara Prough added three points and two kills, and Riley Butler chipped in with four points.
