NTL GIRLS SOCCER: BLOOMSBURG TOPS ATHENS, 5-0 (16 PHOTOS) (2024-10-12)

Valley Sports Report
ATHENS — On the heels of a 2-0 loss at Corning Friday evening, Athens dropped a 5-0 decision to Bloomsburg in non-league girls soccer action here Saturday morning at Alumni Stadium.

“Too much soccer in less than 24 hours,” said Athens coach Rich Pitts.

“We had great ball movement, though, and got some chances out of them.

“The girls mentally played hard all game and I’m proud of them,” added Pitts. “We’ll get a little rest, then head to Troy and see what we can do.”

Bloom’s high-scoring Teagan Serrano set up Hannah Magill for the game’s first score about 11 1/2 minutes into the contest.

Serrano scored with 16:03 remaining in the first half to make it 2-0, which is where it stood at the halftime intermission.

Serrano added three goals in the second half to provide the final margin.

Bloom had a 14-1 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.

Athens senior Carmelita Pomaquiza recorded six saves in the net.

Athens, now 10-4, travels to Troy Monday, then hosts the Trojans Wednesday.
