SAYRE — Waverly came up just short in hard-fought first and third sets in a 3-0 loss to Chenango Valley here Thursday night in STAC Central Division volleyball action.

The Warriors won by scores of 29-27, 25-17, and 25-23.

Lillie Kirk led Waverly with 10 service points, six kills,, three blocks, and 10 digs, while Brilynn Belles had eight points, including four aces, for kills, and eight digs, and Ava Heath had four points, four kills, and five digs.

Emma Richards-Randall had three points and three kills for the Wolverines, while Maddy Olmsted had two points, 15 setter assists, and six digs, Adriana Presher added two points (two aces), and seven digs, and Addison Hunt chipped in with two points and two kills.

Waverly, now 2-10, returns to action Saturday at the rugged Horseheads Tournament, then closes out the regular season Tuesday against Owego at Tioga High School.
