IAC VOLLEYBALL: TIOGA TOPS T-BURG, 3-1, TO AVENGE EARLY-SEASON LOSS (24 PHOTOS) (2024-10-18)

TIOGA CENTER — After splitting the first two sets, Tioga won the final two for a 3-1 win over Trumansburg to avenge an early-season loss here Friday night in IAC Large School Division volleyball action.

The Tigers won the first set, 25-15, but the Blue Raiders answered with a 25-19 victory in the second set. Tioga closed out the match with wins of 25-18 and 25-17.

In their first meeting, on Sept. 23, Tioga won the first two sets, but Trumansburg rallied to win the next three.

Kali Bailey had eight points, including three aces, 16 kills, and four digs to lead Tioga, while Lilly Mezzatesta had four points (two aces), 10 kills, and 12 digs, and Jade Keaty had six points (two aces) and 13 digs.

Mary Divers had seven points, including three aces, three setter assists, and two dives in the win, while Audi Zorn had five points (two aces), four kills, two blocks, the three digs, and Alyson Chamberlain had 10 assists, and four digs.

RaeAnne Feeko had three points, four kills, five assists, and four digs for the Tigers, while Vanessa Tunnicliff recorded three assists and two digs, and Mia Hall added two points and two kills.

Tioga returns to action Saturday at the Horseheads Tournament.

JV: Tioga rallied to win the junior varsity match, 2-1.

The Tigers dropped a 25-18 decision in the first set, but bounced back with wins of 25-13 and 25-19.

Riley Butler led Tioga with 13 points, including four aces, and three digs, while Vida Rossi had seven points, including three aces, five kills, three blocks, five assists, and four digs, and Lindsey Jeffrey had six points, 21 assists, and nine digs.

Brianna Lounsbury had six points and four digs in the win, while Peyton Black had five points, six kills, two blocks, two assists, and two digs, Kate Kithcart had three points, 13 assists, and six digs, and Amelia Toomey added three points, two kills, two assists, and two digs.

Sadi Marshall recorded eight blocks for the Tigers, while Courtney Smith had seven digs and two assists, and Sara Prough had five digs and two assists.
