MARATHON — Waverly junior Mackenzie Chamberlain had the best finish of the day for the Valley competitors at the annual Marathon Cross Country Invitation, and Tioga junior Talon Wood, and Waverly senior Harper Minaker, and sophomore Chase Hine each had top-30 finishes.

Chamberlain finished 14th in a time of 22:13.9, and Harper Minaker was 26th in 23:17.3.

Sophomore Taylor Sinsabaugh was 46th in 25:48.6 for the Wolverines, while freshman Miah Correll was 54th in 26:39.5, and freshman Isabella Minaker was 66th in 29:18.0.

Waverly finished fifth in the Small School field with 102 points. Section III’s Fabius Pompey won the team title with 40 points, and Delhi was second with 45.

Senior Brooke Delmage paced Tioga with a 52nd-place finish in a time of 28:35.1, while sophomore Kendall Ward was 64th in 30:06.7, sophomore Lacey Ward was 82nd in 34:42.3, and freshman Brooklin Lynch was 86th in 39:57.3.

Hine led the Wolverines in the Seeded Race, finishing 29th in a time of 18:42.3, and junior Hayden Howe was 34th in 19:13.3.

Senior Nic Mattison was 51st for Waverly in 19:46.3, while freshman Hayden Montanye was 57th in 20:10.6, 8th-grader Colten Santalucia was 73rd in 22:25.7, sophomore Jayden Washington was 76th in 22:56.3, and freshman Garret Akins was 87th in 27:16.5.

Waverly finished fifth in the Small School field with 101 placement points. Oneonta claimed the team title with 28 points, and Delhi was second with 68.

Wood paced Tioga in the Unseeded Race with a 21st-place finish in a time of 19:42.

Freshman Carter Allen was 153rd in 34:46.
