NTL VOLLEYBALL: ATHENS SWEEPS PAST SAYRE (24 PHOTOS) (2024-10-22)
Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — Athens started fast and rolled to a sweep of Sayre here Tuesday night in NTL volleyball action.
The Wildcats won by scores of 25-16, 25-12, and 25-15.
"The Lady Cats played as a team tonight, and really worked hard," said Athens coach Heather Darrow. "It was really fun watching them hustle and be relentless tonight.
"Sayre was scrappy tonight, too," she added.
Senior Kassie Babcock led Athens with 12 kills, two aces, and 15 digs, while senior Emma Renninger had 14 setter assists, and five digs, senior Keaton Wiles had eight kills, two aces, and three digs, and senior Ella Coyle recorded 11 digs.
Senior Sydney Field added seven assists in the win, while senior Anna Geisinger had two aces and four digs, freshman Ellie Mosher had two aces, and two kills, and Gretchen Scheming chipped in with two digs.
Junior Rylee Lantz had four kills, four blocks, five assists, and three digs to lead the Redskins, while freshman Regina McGaughey had two kills, eight digs, and 10 serve-receives, and senior Raegan Parrish had five digs, and 10 receives.
Senior Abbie McGaughey registered three kills and three digs for Sayre, while, freshman Yeleena Soon had four digs, three assists, and five receives, senior Mazlin VanDuzer added five digs, and freshman Grace Russo chipped in with 11 serve-receives.
JV: Athens swept the JV match by scores of 25-22, 25-18.
