STAC GIRLS SWIMMING: WELLES, KELLOGG LEAD WAVERLY TO WIN OVER FORKS; WOLVERINES CAP UNBEATEN SEASON (17 PHOTOS) (2024-10-29)

WAVERLY — Freshman Lauryn Welles, and 8th-grader Audrey Kellogg each won four events to lead Waverly to a 114-49 win over Chenango Forks here Tuesday afternoon in the final dual meet of the STAC girls swim season.

Juniors Mira Kittle and Olivia Cheresnowsky, and 8th-grader Megan Atanasoff were triple-winners for the Wolverines, who wrap up an unbeaten 8-0 season.

Waverly won all 11 events, and finished 1-2 in seven of the eight individual, including two events in which it swept the top three spots.

Kellogg led a sweep in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:35.67, while 8th-grader Natalie Steck was second in 2:43.49, and 8th-grader Brynna Twedt was third in 2:45.77.

Kellogg won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:12.04, and Twedt was third in 1:16.38.

Welles won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 57.52 seconds, and Atanasoff was second in 59.46 seconds.

Welles won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:17.26, and Steck was second in 1:17.58.

Kellogg and Welles teamed with Kittle and Atanasoff to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:10.33.

Kellogg teamed with Kittle, Cheresnowsky, and 8th-grader Ayla Wheeler to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:47.27.

Welles teamed with Cheresnowsky, Steck, and Atanasoff teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:01.81.

Kittle won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:08.26, and senior Elizabeth Robinson was second in 2:24.2.

Atanasoff led a sweep in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.31 seconds, with Cheresnowsky second in 26.46 seconds, and Wheeler third in 28.52 seconds.

Cheresnowsky won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:07.53, and Wheeler was second in 1:16.

Sophie Williams won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 7:03.14, and Veda Harmon was third in 7:14.57.

Waverly returns to action Nov. 6 at the Section IV, Class B preliminaries.
