IAC CROSS COUNTRY: WOOD LEADS TIOGA'S EFFORTS AT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS (2024-10-30)
Valley Sports ReportMARATHON — Junior Talon Wood had a top-15 finish to lead Tioga's efforts here Wednesday afternoon at the IAC Cross Country Championships.
Wood finished 15th in a time of 20:31.6, and freshman Carter Allen was 80th in 40:18.2.
Lansing's Trent Thibault won IAC gold in a time of 17:06.0, while Marathon's Andrew Edsall was second in 17:23.7, and Groton's Ross Bush was third in 18:33.6.
Southern Cayuga won the team title with 66 placement points, edging out runner-up Trumansburg by 1 point. Lansing was third with 95 points, and O-M was fourth with 125 points.
GIRLSSenior Brooke Delmage led the Lady Tigers with a 45th-place finish in a time of 29:44.6, and senior Alicia Bennett was 50th in 31:17.2.
Lansing's Kathleen Sullivan (21:55.2) and Evelyn Jackson (21:56.5) finished 1-2 in the race, and Candor's Emma Haynes was third in 22:54.8.
Lansing won the team title with 38 points, while Trumansburg was second with 43, Candor was third with 76, and Newark Valley was fourth with 79 points.
Tioga returns to action Nov. 7 at the Section IV Championships at Chenango Valley State Park.
