WOMEN'S COLLEGE WRESTLING: TIOGA GRAD SINDONI PLACES FOURTH AT EAST STROUDSBURG OPEN IN ELMIRA COLLEGE DEBUT (2024-11-05)

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Tioga grad Emily Sindoni, a sophomore on the Elmira College women's wrestling team, finished fourth here Sunday at the East Stroudsburg Open.

Sindoni, who is certified at 138 pounds, was the fourth seed at 160 pounds in her first action as a Soaring Eagle. She transferred into Elmira from D'Youville.

She opened with a 10-0 win via technical fall in 53 seconds against Frostburg's Sarah Sunday.

In the round-of-16, Sindoni forged another 10-0 technical fall, this time in 1:28 against isericordia's Elizabeth Adebola.

In the quarterfinals, Sindoni led 7-3 over Ella Poalillo of the Venom Girls Wrestling Club, after the first period, but needed to rally with the final point of the bout to tie it at 10-10 with 65 seconds remaining. Sindoni won via criteria for scoring the last point of the bout.

Top-seeded Tiffani Baubitz of East Stroudsburg built a 9-1 lead for winning by fall at 2:12 to knock Sindoni into the third-place match.

Sindoni built a 6-2 lead in the third-place match, but Gannon University's Nyla Burgess rallied for a 10-6 win.

Elmira opens its dual season Thursday night when it hosts East Stroudsburg.
