Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Top-seeded Tioga lost its first set of night, but won its next five to post the best record in semi-final pool play, and advance to Saturday's Section IV, Class C championship match.
The Tigers will host seventh-seeded Edison, which lost its first two sets of the night to Tioga, but advanced after beating fourth-seeded Trumansburg in a playoff.
Tioga posted a 5-1 record on the night, while Edison and fourth-seeded Trumansburg were both 3-3, and third-seeded S-VE was 1-5.
Tioga dropped a 25-22 decision to Trumansburg, but bounced back with a big 25-11 victory in its opening match of the night.
The Tigers then swept S-VE by scores of 25-17 and 25-10, and Edison by scores of 25-3 and 25-22.
The Spartans opened the night with a sweep of S-VE, winning by scores of 25-14 and 25-16.
After their losses to Tioga, the Spartans split with Trumansburg. Edison dropped the first set, 25-20, but pulled out a 26-24 win in the second set to force a playoff.
Edison rolled to a 25-13 win in the playoff to advance to the finals, which begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.
