In the semifinals, Worthing scored four near-fall points midway through the second period to take a 4-0 lead on his way to a 9-0 major decision over Bellarmine's fourth-seeded Grant O'Dell. He added an escape and a takedown in the third period, and tacked on a riding-time point for the final margin.

In the finals, Michigan's second-seeded Joseph Walker scored a takedown in the first 10 seconds, and held on for a 4-2 win.

Silvestri, wrestling in the 141-pound bracket, opened his collegiate career with a takedown 45 seconds into the first period on his way to a 5-1 decision over Buffalo's Aaron Lanster in the opening round.

In the round-of-16, Silvestri scored takedowns in each of the first two periods, and led 6-3 heading into the final two minutes, where he scored a pair of reversals (plus a riding-time point) in an 11-4 over unattached Terry Adams.

In the quarterfinals, Silvestri ran into second-seeded Luke Stanich of Lehigh, who placed fifth at the NCAA Championships last season.

Stanich scored six takedowns in a 19-4 technical fall in 3:51.

Silvestri bounced back with a 7-5 win over Edinburg's Colin Roberts in the consolation round-of-8.
