THE VALLEY — A Section IV championship football game, a New York State playoff volleyball match, and the New York State Cross Country Championships headline Saturday's slate of action.

FOOTBALL
Section IV Playoffs
Class C Finals
2-Chenango Forks (8-1) at 1-Waverly (9-1), noon @ Johnson City H.S.:
The Wolverines blanked Windsor, 42-0, in the semifinals of the Section IV, Class C playoffs, while the Blue Devils topped Lansing, 42-13, in the other semi-final.

The state's top-ranked Waverly, the reigning Class C state champ, has beaten Chenango Forks (ranked third in the state) in each of the last two Sectional finals.

Both teams suffered their only loss this season against Class B's top state-ranked team, Maine-Endwell. Waverly dropped a 42-41 overtime thriller, while Chenango Forks lost 21-14.

VOLLEYBALL
New York State Playoffs
Class C Quarterfinals
Jordan-Elbridge (14-7) vs. Tioga (13-4), 1 p.m. @ Candor H.S.:
The Tigers swept Edison to win the Section IV title, while the Eagles swept Weedsport to win the Section III title.

CROSS COUNTRY
New York State Championships, 10 a.m. @ Queensbury H.S.:
Waverly senior Harper Minaker, and junior Mackenzie Chamberlain will run at the State meet.

Minaker qualified for States as a freshman, while Chamberlain is making her first appearance.
