NEW YORK STATE GIRLS SWIMMING: WAVERLY'S KITTLE TOP-FIVE SEED IN TWO EVENTS, ONE RELAY ALSO SEEDED IN TOP FIVE (2024-11-21)
Valley Sports ReportWEBSTER, N.Y. — Waverly junior Mira Kittle is a top-five seed in a pair of individual events, and one of the Wolverines relays is also a top-five seed this weekend here at the New York State Swimming & Diving Championships at the Webster Aquatics Center.
Kittle is the second seed in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.6 seconds, while Rondout Valley senior Clara Samko is the top seed at 23.57 seconds.
The top 10 swimmers in the 50 free are seeded with time of 23.96 seconds or faster.
Kittle is the fifth seed in 100-yard backstroke with a seed time of 56.79 seconds. The top seed is Bellmore junior Calista Chen with a time of 55.46 seconds.
The second seed is 56.23 seconds, and the ninth seed is 57.17 seconds.
Waverly's 200-yard freestyle is seeded fourth at 1:38.88. Kittle will be joined on the relay by junior Olivia Cheresnowsky, freshman Lauryn Welles, and 8th-grader Megan Atanasoff.
The foursome of Welles, Atanasoff, and 8th-graders Aubrey Kellogg and Ayla Wheeler won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:40.3 at the Section IV, Class B meet.
Happauge-Smithtown is the top seed in the 200 free at 1:36.29. The second seed is 1:37.51, and the eighth seed is 1:39.75.
The 200-meter medley relay is seeded 18th in a time of 1:51.05. Kittle, Cheresnowsky, and Welles will team with 8th-grader Natalie Steck in the 200 medley relay.
Happaugue-Smithtown is the top seed at 1:46.32, and the 10th seed is at 1:50.23.
The swimming preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. Friday.
