COLLEGE WRESTLING: ATHENS GRAD BRADLEY NETS TITLE AT ROGER WILLIAMS INVITE; RECORDS WINS IN CASTLETON'S FIRST TWO DUALS (2024-11-22)

BRISTOL, R.I. — Athens grad Gavin Bradley, a junior on the Castleton wrestling team, registered a trio of falls on his way to a first-place finish at the Roger Williams Invitational, and picked up a pair of wins in dual meets recently.

At the Roger Williams Invite, Bradley, the top seed at 125 pounds, built a quick 7-0 lead before pinning Hagen Chase of Southern Maine in 1:11 in the round-of-16.

In the quarterfinals, Bradley forged a 10-0 major decision over eighth-seeded Chris Hong of Wesleyan. Bradley scored takedowns in the first and second period in the win.

In the semis, Bradley scored three takedowns in the first period to built a 9-2 lead over fourth-seeded Sei Dolomengi of Bridgewater.

In the second period, Bradley hit a a quick sevepoint move in the opening seconds to extend the lead to 16-2, then finished off the fall at 3:34.

In the finals, Bradley registered a takedown of second-seeded Jabari Pinkney of Norwich in the first 30 seconds, then finned off the fall at 1:42.

Bradley was one of five champions as Castleton cruised to the team title with 190 points, well ahead of runner-up Wisconsin-Whiteater, which had 145 points.

Castleton opened its dual season last Friday with a 32-3 win over Delaware Valley.

Bradley got things started at 125 pounds with an 8-6 winnower Malik Asfour to give the Spartans a quick 3-0 lead.

On Saturday, Bradley decked Robert Lyons in 1:33 to help Castleton to a 43-3 win over Norwich.

Castleton returns to action Saturday at the Penn College Invitational in Williamsport.
