IAC BOWLING: TIOGA GIRLS SWEEP NEWARK VALLEY; BOYS POST 3-1 WIN (2024-11-27)

WAVERLY — The Tioga girls opened the 2024-25 season with a sweep of Newark Valley, while the Tioga boys posted a 3-1 win here Monday afternoon in IAC bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.

GIRLS
Tioga 4, Newark Valley 0

Selena LaFritz and Kelsey Helmich bot rolled 500 series to lead the Tigers to a total-pinball win over 2,211 to 2,069.

Tioga won the first game 767-682, then followed it up with wins of 670-659, and 774-728.

LaFritz opened with a 213 on her way to a match-high 543 series, while Helmich shot a 509, including a 201 in the third game.

Liberty Magner rolled a 458 for the Tigers, while Sabrina Ellis had a 380, Paige Hicks added a 310, and Katie Bleiler tacked on a 275.

Rachel Hartman led Newark Valley with a 527 series, and Abigail Dusfrene added a 456.

BOYS
Tioga 3, Newark Valley 1

Nick Slater banged out a 600 series to lead Tioga to a 3-1 win over Newark Valley.

The Cardinals opened the match with an 827-779 win in Game 1, but the Tigers bounced back with wins of 836-787, and 882-698 for a total-pitfall victory of 2,497 to 2,312.

Slater rolled a 646 series on games of 182, 240, and 224, while Austin Mumbulo shot a 541, and Charles Holmes had a 457.

Jayce Morris had a 429 for the Tigers, while Garrett Godfrey added a 424, and James Luther tacked on a 359.

Devon Green led Newark Valley with a 628 series, including a 244 in his first game, and James Wales shot a 590, including games of 202 and 209.

Tioga returns to action Tuesday at Watkins Glen.
