Alissa Vough quickly became Athens' No. 2 runner, and had a strong season for the Wildcats. She is the 2024
Valley Sports Report girls "
Newcomer of the Fall."
Vough had Top-10 finishes at the Forbes Invitational (ninth), and the Owego Dash in the Dark (10th).
She also had strong performances at the prestigious McQuaid Invitational (18th), and the rugged Paul Short Invite (93rd).
Vough finished 23rd at the District 4, Class AA Championships.

Lilly Mezzatesta, junior, Tioga volleyball: Mezzatesta, who got a taste of varsity play last year in Tioga's run to the Section IV championship game appearance, did a little of everything for the Tigers. She was effective at the service line, was a presence at the net, played defense, and set on occasion.
Brooke Lyon, freshman, Athens golf: Lyon was a consistent starter for the Wildcats, who won their fourth straight NTL title and the program's first-ever District 4 title. She had a scoring average of 101.8 in nine matches. She set a school record with a round of 85, and also shot an 86.
Reghan McGaughey, freshman, Sayre volleyball: McGaughey made an immediate impact for the Redskins. She had 58 points, including 23 aces, 45 kills and two blocks, 133 digs and nine assists.
Elle Mosher, freshman, Athens volleyball: Mosher made an immediate impact at the net for the Wildcats. She had 104 points, including 35 aces, 48 kills, nine blocks, 47 digs, and seven assists.
Gianna Soprano, freshman, Waverly soccer: Soprano scored three goals this season, but the biggest was the one that gave the Wolverines a 1-0 lead on its way to a 2-0 win over Chenango Forks for its first-ever Section IV title. She also had four assists on the season.
Serenity Relyea, freshman, Tioga soccer: Relyea got better and better as the season progressed. She had four goals and one assist on the season.
