VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY'S KITTLE HEADLINES SUPER 7 AS GIRLS 'ATHLETE OF THE FALL' (2024-12-08)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — Waverly junior Mira Kittle enjoyed a record-breaking fall in the pool, breaking Section IV records, school records, pool records, and invite records. She is the 2024 Valley Sports Report Girls "Athlete of the Fall."

Kittle currently holds the school record in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle sprints, and the 100-yard backstroke and butterly, as well as the six-dive school record.

She has also been a part of all three school-record holding relays, including two that brought home state medals this fall.

She qualified for States in three individual events — 50 and 100 free, and 100 backstroke — this fall.

Mira Kittle, junior, Waverly:
See above.

Sara Bronson, senior, Athens: During the regular season, Bronson won the Forbes Invitational, and placed third the Owego Dash in the Dark Invite. She finished 10th at the prestigious McQuaid Invitational, and was 23rd at the rugged Paul Short Invite at Lehigh University.

During the postseason, Bronson placed second at NTL Coaches Invite, and ninth at District 4, Class AA Championships to punch her ticket to States. At the PIAA Championships, Bronson posted her best-ever finish at 51st.

Bronson is the first athlete in VSR history to win "Runner of the Year" honors four times.

RaeAnne Feeko, junior, Tioga: Like the majority of Tioga standouts over the years, Feeko can play all over the floor with equal aplomb.

A setter by trade, Feeko is a threat at the net, and can play defense.

Mackenzie Olmsted, sophomore, Waverly: A bit-undersized, it didn't impact Olmsted's performance. She plays the game with grit, heart, and toughness, and has all the physical tools and a sky-high soccer IQ to go with it.

Olmsted, who spent a great deal of time this season in the defensive end, finished the season with five goals and one assist.

Delanie Patton, sophomore, Athens: A force in the midfield for the Wildcats, Patton played the entire field, utilizing good speed, a strong and accurate leg, and a sky-high soccer IQ.

She plays the game with a fire, and led Athens with 10 goals and seven assists.

Mackenzie Chamberlain, junior, Waverly: Chamberlain capped off a strong junior season with her first trip to the State meet.

Chamberlain had top-15 finishes at the Forbes Invite (6th), Owego Dash in the Dark (12th), Marathon Invite (14th), and Newark Valley Invite (15th). She was also 47th at the rugged McQuad Invite.

Chamberlain finished 23rd at the STAC Championships, then finished fifth at the Section IV, Class C Championships to punch her ticket to States, where she finished 67th in a personal-best time.

Harper Minaker, senior, Waverly: Minaker made her second trip to States this fall.

Minaker posted top-12 finishes at the Forbes Invite (10th), Owego Dash in the Dark (11th), and Newark Valley's Bob Greene Invite (12th), and also finished 26th at the perennially-strong field at the Marathon Invite, and 54th at the rugged McQuaid Invite.

Minaker was 37th at the STAC Championships, then finishes seventh at the Section IV, Class C Championships to punch her ticket to States, where she ran to a 59th-place finish in a personal-best time.
