NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: KEMP POWERS ATHENS TO 85-55 WIN OVER WILLIAMSON IN SEASON-OPENER (2024-12-10)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA JUNCTION, Pa. — Junior Adam Kemp had a career night to lead Athens to a season-opening 85-55 win over Williamson here Tuesday night in NTL boys basketball action.
"I'm very pleased with the teams effort tonight," said Athens coach Jim Lister. "I thanked them for being coachable and listening to how important it is to play team basketball.
"We had three guys in double-digits and almost a fourth. We shot the ball well.
"Our conditioning paid off as well," noted Lister. "We were able to put a lot of full-court pressure on their guards and wear them down to get a lot of turnovers and transition points.
All stuff we have been relentlessly working on.
"It's a great start to the season, and a nice team win," added Lister.
Kemp pumped in a career-high 28 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
"A big shout out to Adam Kemp, who just flat out played hoops tonight," said Lister. "I am extremely proud of him."
