COLLEGE WRESTLING: TIOGA GRAD ROE FINISHES FOURTH AT SCOTT VIERA OPEN (2024-12-15)

Tyler Roe, a freshman on the Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team, went 4-2 and finished fourth here Saturday at the Scott Viera Open, hosted by Roger Williams University.
Roe opened his day with a pin of Castleton's John Marcellus in 93 seconds, then dropped an 8-0 major decision to Mass-Amherst's Donny Almeyda.
Roe bounced back with three straight wins in the consolation bracket to reach the third-place match.
He pointed Roger Williams' Nick Fatone in 2:07, then pinned Luke Montefusco, who was wrestling unattached, in 2:23.
In the consolation semifinals, Roe dominated Western New England's James Linder in a 17-2 technical fall in 5:26.
In the third place match, Roe ran into Almeyda again, this time losing via tech fall, 25-10 in 4:46.
On the season, Roe is 17-11 with seven falls and five technical falls.
