NTL JV BOYS BASKETBALL: ATHENS RALLIES IN FOURTH QUARTER IN 39-30 WIN OVER COWANESQUE VALLEY (2024-12-17)

ATHENS — Athens closed the game with a 15-3 run to rally for a 39-30 win over Cowanesque Valley here Monday night in NTL junior varsity boys basketball action.

The Wildcats led 9-6 after the first quarter, but the Indians used a 12-5 run to take an 18-14 lead at the half.

Neither team did much offensively in the third quarter, with both scoring five points, and CV led 23-19 heading into the final seven minutes.

CV led 27-24 early in the fourth quarter when Athens' full-court defensive pressure kick-started the offense to life in the game-closing run.

Lucas Schultz scored six points, including a 3-pointer, in the fourth quarter for the Wildcats, while Kam Wheeler and Dom Robbins each scored four points, and Eli Hobday drained a 3-pointer.

Schultz led Athens with 13 points, while Wheeler scored eight points, and Robbins added seven points.

Athens returns to action Thursday at Towanda.
