STAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: BALANCED SCORING, STRONG DEFENSE LEADS WAVERLY TO 59-34 WIN OVER WINDSOR (2024-12-17)

WINDSOR — Waverly got off to a quick start offensively, and its defense put the clamps on Windsor in a 59-34 win here Tuesday night in STAC girls basketball action.

Junior Brilynn Belles scored six points in the first quarter, while sophomore Makenzie Olmsted had four points, and senior Addison Westbrook and sophomore Ryleigh Judson each drained 3-pointers in the Wolverines' 20-8 run in the first quarter.

Judson and junior Kaitlyn Sutton each connected on 3-pointers in the second quarter as Waverly used a 12-7 run to extend its lead to 32-15 at the half.

Westbrook drained a 3-pointer and scored six points in the third quarter, while Judson scored four points, and sophomore Emma Richards-Randall added an old-fashioned three-point play in a 15-4 blitz that gave the Wolverines a 47-19 lead entering the final eight minutes.

Westbrook led a balanced Waverly offense with 11 points, including two 3-pointers, while Sutton and Judson each scored 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers apiece, and Belles had nine points.

Richards-Randall scored five points in the win, and freshman Kaylin Twedt and Olmsted chipped in with four points apiece.

Charley Carr led Windsor with 11 points.

Waverly, now 4-0, returns to action Friday at Chenango Valley.
