NTL WRESTLING: ATHENS RIDES QUICK FALLS TO 44-15 WIN OVER NEB (6 PHOTOS) (2024-12-17)

ATHENS — Athens registered five first-period falls, and a technical fall in a 44-15 win over Northeast Bradford here Tuesday night in NTL wrestling action.

The Panthers led 6-0 early after an Athens forfeit at 114 pounds, but a pair of pins, sandwiched around an NEB forfeit put the Wildcats up for good.

Sophomore Zaine Campbell, at 127 pound, quickly tied the match with a 55-second pin of Hunter Comstock, then a forfeit to sophomore Lucas Persun at 133 pounds to make it 12-6.

Junior Karson Sipley extended the lead to 18-6 with a 39-second fall of Kelton Raymond at 139 pounds.

NEB got on the board again at 145 pounds with Alex Gomez's hard-fought 4-1 decision over junior Sean Peters to close the gap to 18-9.

The Wildcats took total control by winning the next four weights classes.

Freshman Treyton Barrett started the run with a dominating 17-2 technical fall of Russell Martin at 152 pounds.

Sophomore Brendan Cook made it 27-9 with an 11-4 decision over Kale Howland at 160 pounds, and junior Hayden Mercer made it 33-9 at 172 pounds with a pin of Zeryk Thurston in 1:25.

Sophomore Connor Davidson finished off the Athens run with a pin of Connor Eastabrook in 1:30 at 189 pounds.

After a pin by NEB's Carson Perkins at 215, Athens senior Caleb Nason finished the night with a 57-second pin off Ben Ellis.

There were no matches at 107 or 121 pounds.

Athens, now 2-0, returns to action Thursday at Wyalusing.
