IAC BOWLING: TIOGA SALVAGES SPLIT WITH LANSING; LADY TIGERS SWEEP (2024-12-19)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Tioga salvaged a split against Lansing, winning the total-pinfall point by 11 pins Wednesday (one night after losing it by 7 pins to Edison), while the Lady Tigers registered a sweep in IAC bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.
BOYS
Tioga 2, Lansing 2Tioga won the first game 946-869, but Lansing won the next two by scores of 919-899 and 973-927. The Tigers held on to win the total-pinfall by a count of 2,772 to 2,761.
Senior Garrett Godfrey led Tioga with a career-high 621 series on games of 208, 193, and 220, while Austin Mumbulo shot a 612 on games of 188, 201, and 223, and Nick Slater rolled a 576, including games of 206 and 207.
Charles Holmes shot a 480 for the Tigers, while James Luther added a 452, and Skyler Nelson tacked on a 444.
Nicholas Finns led Lansing with a match-high 688 series, and Nathan Armstrong added a 639.
Wednesday
Edison 3, Tioga 1Tioga won the first game, but Edison rallied to win a pair of close decisions, for a total-pinfall victory of 2,385 to 2,378.
Slater led Tioga with a 562 series, while Mumbulo shot a 478, and Holmes had a 474.
Nelson had a 444 for the Tigers, while Godfrey aded a 435, and Luther tacked on with a 426.
Zack Crown led Edison with a 701 series, including a 299 in the third game.
GIRLS
Tioga 4, Lansing 0Selena LaFritz led Tioga to a sweep of Lansing.
The Tigers won the first game 752-593, and followed it up with wins of 727-673 and 690-685, for a total-pinfall victory of 2,169 to 1,951.
LaFritz rolled a 552, including a 215 in the second game, while Kelsey Helmich shot a 490, and Liberty Magner had a 431.
Paige Hicks had a 335 for the Tigers, while Sabrina Ellis added a 333, and Kate Bleiler tacked on a 293.
Sienna Wright led Lansing with a 510.
Wednesday
Tioga 3, Edison 1Tioga won the first and third games, and the total-pinfall count by 38 pins for a 3-1 win over Thomas A. Edison.
Helmich led Tioga with a 492 series, while LaFritz shot a 442, Ellis had a 368, Magner added a 365, and Hicks tacked on a 322.
