IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: DESPITE FAST START, TIOGA FALLS AT SOUTHERN CAYUGA, 57-43 (2024-12-20)
Valley Sports ReportPOPLAR RIDGE, N.Y. — Tioga couldn't maintain a fast start in a 57-43 loss to Southern Cayuga here Friday night in IAC Small School boys basketball crossover action.
Junior James Miller knocked down a pair 3-pointers for the Tigers in the opening stanza, while juniors Brady Landmesser and Dominic Palmer each scored four points, and sophomore Jackson Bombard connected on a 3-pointer in a 19-12 run.
Southern Cayuga, however, countered with a 21-4 blitz in the second quarter to take a 33-23 lead into the halftime locker room.
The Chiefs lengthened their lead with a 17-5 third-quarter run to take a 50-28 lead into the final eight minutes.
Miller led Tioga with 17 points, including four 3-pointers, while Landmesser had eight points and six rebounds, and Palmer added seven points and a team-high 12 boards
Bombard contributed five points, five rebounds, and four assists for the Tigers, while Trystan Barto and sophomore Gavin Kithcart chipped in with four and three rebounds, respectively.
Isaac Brozon led Southern Cayuga with 32 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Tioga, now 2-3, returns to action Thursday at Sayre in the opening round of the Valley Christmas Tournament.
