ADDISON — Waverly built a 12-point halftime lead on its way to a 58-44 win over Addison here Monday night in non-league junior varsity boys basketball action.

Collin Wheeler canned a 3-pointer and scored five points in the first quarter to help Waverly to an 11-8 lead after the opening stanza.

Eric Lewis scored five points, including a 3-pointer, in the second quarter, while Braiden Judson and Axel Murray scored four points apiece, and Drew Croft canned a 3-pointer to fuel a 16-7 run that put the Wolverines ahead 27-15 at the halftime break.

Judson and Croft scored four points apiece in the third quarter, but Addison outscored Waverly, 14-13, in the stanza to close the gap to 40-29.

Collin Wheeler and Croft, who drained a pair of 3-pointers, scored six points apiece, and Murray added four points as Waverly closed the game with an 18-15 advantage to nail down the win.

Croft had 13 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, and Murray had 13 points, nine rebounds, four steals, two assists, and one blocked shot, and Wheeler had 11 points and six boards.

Judson had 10 points, four rebounds, three assists,a nd four steals in the win, while Lewis added seven points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two blocked shots, and Sam Cheresnowsky chipped in with four points, three steals, and two assists.

Waverly returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Chenango Forks.
