STAC WRESTLING: WAVERLY PINS DOWN CHENANGO VALLEY, 65-12 (22 PHOTOS) (2025-01-07)

WAVERLY — Waverly won five of the six contested weight classes, and picked up six forfeits in a 65-12 win over Chenango Valley here Tuesday night in STAC wrestling action.

Junior Daltton Davis started the night off at 138 pounds with a series of takedowns, and two sets of back points in a 20-3 technical over Jestin Bennett in 2:43.

Sophomore Joey Mack scored a pair of quick takedowns, and worked Nicholas Aftuck to his back for a fall at 1:31 in their 145-pound bout to make it 11-0.

After forfeits to junior Cooper Robinson (152), sophomore Parker Larson (160), and senior Riley Pipher (170) gave the Wolverines a 29-0 lead, the Warriors got on the board with a pin at 190 pounds.

Waverly picked up forfeits at 215 (sophomore Matthias Welles) and 285 (junior Troy Beemnan) to make it 41-6, and CV picked up its final points of the night with a forfeit at 101.

Eighth-grader Avery Bowman got the Wolverines back on track on the mat with a 46-second of Camryn Rosenbarker at 108 pounds, and sophomore Rhylee Stotler picked up a forfeit at 116 to up the advantage to 53-12.

Freshman Drayton DeKay kept the Waverly pin parade rolling with a 58-second fall of Grayson Cortright at 124 pounds, and junior Caden Bradley put the finishing touches on the win with a pin of Tegan Cavanaugh in 2:50 at 131 pounds.

Waverly's match Thursday with Tioga has been postponed. The Wolverines return to action this weekend at the Southern Tier Memorial.
