NTL JV BOYS BASKETBALL: ATHENS RIDES DEFENSE TO 33-19 WIN OVER NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD (2025-01-08)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Four quarters of solid defense, and a good second half of offense lifted Athens to a 33-19 win over North Penn-Mansfield here Tuesday night in NTL Large School junior varsity boys basketball action.
Gage Marmor knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points in the first quarter to help the Wildcats to a 7-5 lead.
Dom Robbins converted an old-fashion three-point play in the second quarter as Athens outscored NP-M, 5-34, to stretch its lead to 12-8 at the half.
Robbins scored six points in the third quarter, and Eli Hobday canned a 3-point play to help Athens keep pace in the stanza and take a 21-17 lead into the final seven minutes.
Hobday scored five points, including a 3-pointer, and Robbins connected from behind the 3-point arc to fuel a game-closing 12-2 run for the Wildcats.
Robbins led Athens with 14 points, while Hobday scored 10, and Marmor added five.
Athens returns to action Thursday at Troy in a 5 p.m. JV start.
