IAC BOWLING: TIOGA BOYS SWEEP NEWARK VALLEY; LADY TIGERS SWEPT (2025-01-09)
Valley Sports ReportNEWARK VALLEY — Nick Slater led the Tioga boys to a sweep of Newark Valley here Thursday afternoon at Cardinal Lanes, while the Lady Cardinals swept the Tioga girls in IAC bowling action.
BOYS
Tioga 4, Newark Valley 0Slater rolled a 609 on games of 204, 216, and 189 to lead the Tigers to a sweep of their longtime IAC rival.
Tioga won the first game 913-774, then followed it up with wins of 957-840, and 845-795 for a total-pinfall win of 2,715 to 2,409.
Austin Mumbulo rolled a 560, including a 205 in the second game, for the Tigers, while Garrett Godfrey had a 550, including a 204 in the second game, and James Luther had a 524.
Charles Holmes added a 472 in the sweep, and Skyler Nelson tacked on a 367.
Devon Green led Newark Valley with a 559.
GIRLS
Newark Valley 4, Tioga 0The Cardinals won the first game 854-705, then followed with closer wins of 719-707 and 744-723 for a total-pinfall win of 2,317 to 2,135.
Kelsey Helmich led Tioga with a 507 series, including a 204 in the second game, while Liberty Magner shot a 465, and Selena LaFritz rolled a 432.
Katie Blieler added a 375 for the Tigers, and Paige Hicks tacked on a 356.
Lyla Dufresne led Newark Valley with a match-high 536 series, including games of 200 and 205.
Tioga returns to action Friday against O-M at Harborside Lanes in Watkins Glen.
