NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: TROY RIDES FAST START TO 58-23 WIN OVER ATHENS (2025-01-09)
Valley Sports ReportTROY — Troy raced out to a big lead early, and enjoyed a good shooting night on its way to a 58-23 win over Athens here Thursday night in NTL Large School Division boys basketball action.
The Trojans shot 50 percent from the field, and made all 10 of its free-throw attempts in the win.
Joseph Frye knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for the Trojans, while Jack Burbage and Lincoln Chimics each scored four points and Spencer Martin drained a 3-pointer to fuel a 19-4 first-quarter blitz.
Chimics canned a pair of 3-pointers, and Trey Teribury also scored six points in the second quarter, and Evan Woodward added a trey in a 17-8 second-quarter run to up the Trojans lead 36-12 at the halftime intermission.
Burbage scored eight points in the third quarter, and Chimics nailed two more 3-pointers to spark an 18-8 run that gave the Trojans a 54-19 lead heading into the final eight minutes.
Juniors Adam Kemp and James Friend scored five points apiece, and junior Nick Grazul added four points to lead the Wildcats.
Chimics led Troy with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, while Burbage and Teribury added 12 points apiece.
Athens, now 2-9, hosts Wyalusing Tuesday.
