NTL JV BOYS BASKETBALL: ATHENS RALLIES TO EDGE TROY, 42-38 (2025-01-10)
Valley Sports ReportTROY — Athens overcame a rough second quarter and rallied for a 42-38 win over Troy here Thursday evening in NTL Large School Division junior varsity boys basketball action.
Eli Hobday knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points, and Gage Marmor added a 3-pointer to help the Wildcats to a 12-10 lead after the opening stanza, but the Trojans used a 13-4 second-quarter run to take a 23-16 lead into the halftime locker room.
In the third quarter, Hobday canned a 3-pointer and scored five points, while Dom Robbins and Aiden Vanderpool scored four points apiece, and Gage Marmor connected from behind the 3-point arc to fuel a 16-9 run to tie the game at 32-32 entering the final seven minutes.
Marmor scored four points in the fourth quarter, and three of his teammates also found the scoring column with buckets in a 10-6 spurt that carried the Wildcats to the win.
Hobday led Athens with 12 points, while Robbins and Marmor scored 10 points apiece, and Vanderpool added eight points. Hobday and Marmor made two 3-pointers apiece.
Athens returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Wyalusing.
