IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: MARATHON PULLS AWAY FROM TIOGA IN 43-29 WIN (2025-01-10)
Valley Sports ReportMARATHON — Marathon got out to an early lead, and pulled away for a 43-29 win over Tioga here Friday night in IAC Small School Division boys basketball crossover action.
The Olympians led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter, then used a 9-5 spurt in the second quarter to extend their lead to 10 points, at 23-13, at the half.
Juniors Dominic Palmer and James Miller scored four points apiece in the third quarter for the Tigers, who trimmed one point off the deficit with a 9-8 advantage in the stanza. Marathon led 31-22 heading into the final eight minutes.
Marathon pushed its lead to 13 early in the fourth quarter, and finished the game with a 12-7 spurt to nail down the win.
Miller led Tioga with nine points and seven rebounds, while Palmer had six points, seven boards, and six blocked shots, and junior Brady Landmesser had six points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots
Sophomore Jackson Bombard added four points, six rebounds, and two assists for the Tigers, while sophomore Gavin Kithcart had four rebounds and two assists, and senior Trystan Barton hauled down six boards
Camdyn Kashuba led Marathon with 20 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.
Tioga, now 3-7, returns to action Tuesday at Groton.
