THE VALLEY — Wrestling takes center stage today with the Southern Tier Memorial at the LeCom Center in Elmira, and the Athens girls in action at a quad meet at Towanda.

Waverly also hosts a pair of events with boys hoop team hosting Whitney Point, and the swim team playing host to the annual Wolverine Invitational.

BOYS WRESTLING
Southern Tier Memorial, 9 a.m. @ LeCom Center, Elmira: Day 2 will begin with the semifinals, which will feature four Tioga wrestlers — juniors Jayden Duncanson and Logan Bellis, sophomore Declan McKee, and freshman Drayke Ulrich, and three Waverly grapplers — sophomores Rhylee Stotler and Matthias Welles, and junior Cooper Robinson.

Athens has eight wrestlers still alive in the consolation bracket, while Waverly has five in the wrestlebacks, and Tioga has two.

GIRLS WRESTLING
Southern Tier Memorial, 9 a.m. @ LeCom Center, Elmira: 230 girls from 43 different schools will be on hand Saturday for the Southern Tier Memorial.

Tioga senior Kali Bailey is the top seed at 132 pounds, while Tioga sophomore Amelia Toomey is the top seed at 145, and Tioga freshman Kyah Nelson is the top seed at 165 pounds.

Waverly has a pair of 2-seeds in junior Emma Vanderhoof at 120, and freshman Kennadie Cochrane at 107.

Athens at Towanda Quad Meet, 11 a.m.: Athens will take on Towanda, Western Wayne, and Mifflinburg.
