STAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY ROLLS TO 58-37 WIN OVER SETON CATHOLIC (2025-01-15)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Waverly shook off a slow start, and rolled to a 59-37 win over Seton Catholic here Tuesday evening in STAC junior varsity boys basketball action.
Waverly's Jack Pipher scored six points in the first quarter, but Seton Catholic led 9-8 after the opening stanza.
Pipher scored six more points in the second quarter, and Collin Wheeler canned a 3-pointer to fuel a 13-4 run that gave the Wolverines a 21-13 lead at the half.
Braiden Judson pumped in 10 points in the third quarter, and Pipher added six points in a 21-12 run that extended the Waverly lead to 42-25 entering the fourth quarter.
Axel Murray scored four points in the closing stanza, and Drew Croft, Wheeler, and Pipher each knocked down a 3-pointer as the Wolverines nailed down the win with a 17-12 scoring advantage.
Pipher led Waverly with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four steals, and one blocked shot, while Judson scored 12 points, and Murray had eight points and three rebounds.
Wheeler added seven points in the win, and Croft chipped in with five points, Sammy Cheresnowsky dished out three assists.
Waverly returns to action Friday at Owego.
