STAC WRESTLING: MACK, LARSON EARN KEY WINS; WAVERLY TOPS MAINE-ENDWELL, 38-33 (2025-01-15)

Valley Sports Report
ENDWELL — Wrestling without a pair of key starters, Waverly overcame a 12-point deficit in forfeits, and picked up big wins from sophomores Joey Mack and Parker Larson in a 38-33 win over Maine-Endwell here Wednesday night in STAC wrestling action.

The Wolverines, who lost two-time state qualifier sophomore Matthias Welles (12-1) for the remainder of the season to a leg injury, were also without freshman 124-pounder Drayton DeKay (24-3), who is out with an illness.

The Spartans picked up a forfeit at 101 to start the match, but 8th-grader Avery Bowman quickly evened the match with a 65-second pin of Liam Stanton at 108 pounds.

Sophomore Rhylee Stotler gave the Wolverines their first lead of the night, at 12-6, with a fall over Larry Tull in 1:36 at 116 pounds, but a Waverly forfeit at 124 tied the match at 12-12.
