THE VALLEY — There are only four events on Thursday's docket, but all four — wrestling at Athens and Waverly, and boys basketball at Athens and Sayre — are in the Valley.

WRESTLING
North Penn-Liberty (5-5) at Athens (5-0), 6 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 46-30 win over Troy last Thursday, while the Mountaineers topped Troy, 40-34, on Jan. 7.

NP-L has a handful of wrestlers enjoying strong seasons, including sophomore Bryce Pequingot (21-4) at 114 pounds, senior Riley Oakes (21-6) at 160 pounds, freshman Bodhi Nickerson (16-6) at 107 pounds, and senior Brayden Pequingot (13-6) at 127 pounds.

Athens also has a number of grapplers enjoying strong seasons, including sophomore Connor Davidson (19-4) at 172 pounds, sophomore Zaine Campbell (17-4) at 124 pounds, senior Caleb Nason (13-2) at 285 pounds, sophomore Lucas Persun (13-6) at 131 pounds, freshman Treyton Barrett (13-6) at 152 pounds, junior Karson Sipley (14-7) at 138 pounds, and sophomore Brendan Cooke (13-7) at 160 pounds.

Unatego-Unadilla Valley (14-5) at Waverly (10-2), 7 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 38-33 win over Maine-Endwell, while U-UV is coming off a 41-27 win over Deposit-Hancock.

Junior Yanni Drapaniotis (29-0) at 190 pounds, junior Abdeen Zaggout (30-2) at 152 pounds, senior Wyatt Meade (29-2) at 160 pounds, sophomore Gavin Nordberg (26-5) at 131 pounds, sophomore Abdul-Jamil Zaggout (26-6) at 131 pounds, 8th-grader Ahmet Zaggout (20-11) at 138 pounds, and junior Nolan Boyles (22-10) at 215 pounds all have 20 or more wins on the season for U-UV.

Waverly also has a number of wrestlers with 20-plus wins this season. Junior Cooper Robinson (27-4) at 152 pounds, freshman Drayton DeKay (24-3), senior Troy Beeman (24-3) at 285 pounds, at 124 pounds sophomore Rhylee Stotler (26-6) at 116 pounds, 8th-grader Avery Bowman (21-7), junior Daltton Davis (22-9) at 138 pounds, and junior Caden Bradley (23-11) at 131 pounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Wellsboro (6-6) at Athens (3-9), 6 p.m. JV start:  The Wildcats snapped a six-game skid with a 66-40 win over Wyalusing Tuesday, while the Mountaineers dropped a 75-49 decision at home to Sayre.

Canton (5-7) at Sayre (9-3), 6 p.m. JV start: The Redskins are coming off a 75-49 win at North Penn-Liberty, while the Warriors topped Canton, 60-38.
