WINDSOR — Junior Emma Vanderhoof led six Waverly wrestlers on to the podium Monday as the Wolverines placed fourth in the 28-team field at the Lady Knight Invitational.

Vanderhoof placed second in the 120-pound weight class, while 8th-grader Gianna Rylott was third in the 100-pound bracket, junior Elona Holmes was third at 165 pounds, sophomore Abby Sickler was fourth at 114 pounds, 8th-grader Gianna Zieniuk was fourth at 152 pounds, and freshman Kennadie Cochrane was fifth at 107 pounds.

West Genesee won the team title with 124 points, while Chenango Forks and Valley Central tied for second with 121 points, Waverly tallied 117.5 points, Oneonta was fifth with 102 points, and Elmira was sixth with 81 points.

Vanderhoof, the second seed at 120 pounds, scored a 35-second fall over Jae Rivera of Oneonta in the quarterfinals, and decked third-seed Kimberly Olaeta of Windsor in 12 seconds in the semifinals.

In the finals, Vanderhoof lost via first-period fall to top-seed Tayah Beach of SVEC.

Rylott, the third seed at 100 pounds, finished third the hard way.

Rylott lost her opening-round bout via fall to sixth-seeded Bailey Beckwith of Norwich, but bounced back with three straight wins.

Rylott pinned Owego's Kaylie Cote in 29 seconds in her first wrestleback match, then forged a 12-4 major decision over fourth-seeded Amber Mahmoud of Elmira in the consolation semifinals.

In the third-place match, Rylott pinned second-seeded Julianna Martini of West Genesee in 4:08.

Holmes, the fourth seed at 165 pounds, was 3-1 on the day to finish fourth.

Holmes opened with a pin of Indian River's Alanna Langdon in 3:59, then lost via 10-0 technical fall to top-seeded Teagan McGuinness of U-E.

Holmes bounced back in the consolation semifinals with a pin of Johnson City's Kiara Davidson in 34 seconds.

In the third-place match, Holmes pinned third-seeded Rose Southwick of Red Creek in 4:54.

Sickler, the fourth seed at 114 pounds, was 3-2 on the day to finish fourth.

Sickler opened her day with a pin of Indian River's MyLani Baker in 4:36, then scored a 10-7 decision over fifth-seeded Ahraya Whitt of Oxford-Green in the quarterfinals.

After a loss via first-period fall to top-seeded Isabella Phelps of H-S-BG-U in the semifinals, Sickler bounced back with a pin of H-S-BG-U's Dylan Casey in 4:40.

In the third-place match, Sickler lost via first-period fall to third-seeded Kendra Williams of Chenango Forks.

Zieniuk, the third-seed at 152 pounds, was 2-2 on the day to finish fourth.

Zieniuk scored a pin at the third-period buzzer against Oneonta's Grace Cohn in the quarterfinals, then lost via first-period fall to second-seeded Arica Pearson-Leary of Valley Central in the semifinals.

Zieniuk bounced back in the consolation semifinals with a second-period pin of Elmira's Mackenna Burnett, but lost to Oxford-Greene's Lily Karn via a second-period fall in the third-place match.

Cochrane, the fourth seed at 107 pounds, lost her first match, but won three of the next four to finish fifth.

After a loss to Deposit-Hancock's Indira Ramos in the opening round, Cochrane bounced back with pins of Cruz Carranza of Indian River in 1:52, and London Miller of H-S-BG-U in 1:26.

In the consolation semifinals, Cochrane lost via third-period fall to Windsor's Yadlosky.

In the fifth-place match, Cochrane avenged her loss to Ramos with a pin in 2:19.

Sophomore Abi Reedy was 2-2 at 138 pounds.

Reedy opened with a pin of Indian River's Tire Hattori in 2:09, then lost a 10-0 technical fall to Windsor's Delaney Dixon.

She rebounded with an 11-0 technical fall win over Owego's Tatum Kowalski, but lost to Elmira's Atlantis Cherry in the second round of wrestlebacks.

Sophomore Onnah Thompson was 1-2 at 120 pounds, with her lone win a pin of D-H's Teeghan Tarbox's in 2:11 in the opening round.

Senior Savannah Savercool was 1-2 at 235 pounds, with her lone win a pin of Valley Central's Sophie Ebneter in 4:40 in the first round of wrestlebacks.

Freshman Faith Hyjek was 0-2 at 132 pounds.
