WINDSOR — Freshman Kyah Nelson won the 165-pound title, and Moniz was third in her weight class to lead short-handed Tioga to an 11th-place finish here Monday at the Lady Knight Invitational.

The Tigers were without five wrestlers due to illness, including sophomore Amelia Toomey (14-3) and senior Kali Bailey (16-4).

West Genesee won the team title with 124 points, while Chenango Forks and Valley Central tied for second with 121 points, Waverly tallied 117.5 points, Oneonta was fifth with 102 points, and Elmira was sixth with 81 points. Tioga tallied 64.5 points.

Nelson, the second seed at 165 pounds, scored a 12-0 technical fall of U-E's Aneesha Smith in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, Nelson decked third-seeded Rose Southwick of Red Creek in 28 seconds.

In the finals, Nelson earned some redemption as she handed top-seeded Teagan McGuinness of U-E her first loss of the season with a fall in 4:02.

McGuinness beat Nelson, 12-1, in the championship match at the Southern Tier Memorial on Jan. 11.

Moniz, unseeded at 145 pounds, was 4-1 to finish third.

Moniz opened with a 49-second fall of West Genesee's Annalise Johnson, then decked fourth-seeded Brielle Wright of Deposit-Hancock in 31 seconds in the quarterfinals.

In the semis, Moniz lost via first-period fall to Chenango Forks' Jansen Derzanovich, but bounced back in the consolation finals with a 50-second pin of Johnson.

In the third-place match, Moniz decked Valley Central's Makenzie Nolan in 20 seconds.

Junior RaeAnne Feeko was 2-2 at 126 pounds. She opened with a 33-second pin of Canisteo-Greenwood's Trinity Dailey, but lost to C-G's Akalyah Christian via a 12-2 technical fall in the quarterfinals.

Feeko bounced back with a pin of Iris Golden of Chenango Forks in 1:25, but lost to Oxford-Greene's Mira Gaylord in her next wrestleback match.

Junior Mia Hall was 1-2 at 107 pounds, with her lone win a 23-second fall of Canisteo-Greenwood's Taya Avery in the opening round.

Junior Alyson Chamberlain was 1-2 at 114 pounds, with her lone win a 47-second pin of Indian River's MyLani Baker in her first consolation bracket match.

Freshman Córa Szymański was 0-2 at 145 pounds.
