NTL SWIMMING: HICKS BROTHERS, PETTITT LEAD ATHENS PAST DANVILLE; LADY 'CATS FALL (2025-01-21)
Valley Sports ReportTOWANDA — Senior Ethan Hicks, and sophomores Brayden Pettitt and Eli Hicks each won four events to lead the Athens boys to a win over Danville, while the Lady Wildcats fell to the powerhouse Lady Ironman in non-league swimming action here Tuesday.
BOYS
Athens 104, Danville 62Senior Ronel Ankam added three wins, and sophomore Jacob Shores was a double-winner in the Wildcats' 104-62 win over Danville.
Ethan Hicks won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:51.94.
Ethan Hicks also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.12 seconds, and Ankam was third in 54.27 seconds.
Pettitt led a sweep in the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 2:07.99, while sophomore Dominic Musick was second in 2:33.39, and junior Ty Lezak was third in 2:36.22.
Pettitt also won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.73 seconds.
Eli Hicks won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.59 seconds.
Pettitt, Eli Hicks, senior Josh Leonard and Ankam teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:48.86.
Ethan Hicks, Eli Hicks, Shores, and Ankam won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:34.4.
Pettitt, Ethan Hicks, Eli Hicks, and Ankam teamed to win the 400-yard freestyle in a time of 3:27.63.
Shores won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:54.32, and sophomore Austin Quattrini was third in 6:10.84.
Lezak won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:11.37,
Leonard finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.4.
GIRLS
Danville 128, Athens 53Athens won just three events in a 128-53 loss to reigning District 4 champ Danville.
Junior Elizabeth Denlinger won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:13.53. She finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:19.81.
Junior Evelyn Panek won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.26 seconds, and junior Olivia Thompson was second in 28.11 seconds.
Thompson won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:10.65.
Kaylee Bolt finished third in the 1-meter diving with a score of 118.5 points.
